On Monday 19 June 2023, the Luxembourg Prime Minister, Xavier Bettel, travelled to Brussels for an interview with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
The exchanges mainly focused on the mid-term review of the multiannual financial framework, as well as on the preparation of the European Council of June 2023.
Regarding the mid-term review of the multiannual financial framework, Xavier Bettel underlined to the President of the European Commission that Luxembourg remains determined to provide support to Ukraine, to accelerate the ecological transition and to preserve the European Union’s competitiveness on a global scale. The Prime Minister also recalled that in times of turbulence and uncertainty, it is essential that public money is spent in the most efficient way possible.
