Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, on behalf of the Luxembourg Government, has extended his condolences to the British Royal Family and the people of the United Kingdom (UK) and the Commonwealth following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday 8 September 2022.

In a statement issued on Friday morning, Prime Minister Bettel expressed his "sincere condolences" and highlighted the fact that the reign of Queen Elizabeth II "has been marked as much by historic challenges as it has been marked by Her natural ability to navigate and manage those challenges with steadfast leadership and unique grace"

"For more than 70 years she shaped the course of history in the United Kingdom and around the world through her unwavering commitment to stability and peace and a boundless devotion to her people", he continued. "While her passing saddens and moves the world, her legacy will continue to serve as a beacon for future generations".
