On Friday 18 December 2020, the 14th meeting of the Partnership Commission between Luxembourg and Senegal took place in the form of a video conference.

On this occasion, Luxembourg's Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs, Franz Fayot, and his Senegalese counterpart Amadou Hott, Minister of the Economy, Planning and International Cooperation, took stock of the COVID-19 health crisis in Senegal and the main achievements and challenges of the programmes implemented under the fourth indicative cooperation programme between the two countries. The latter has an indicative financial envelope of €65 million for a period of five years (2018-22) and focusses on two priority areas: health and social protection as well as vocational and technical training and the employability of young people. In particular, the two ministers discussed the creation of a major training centre in the field of new information and communication technologies (ICT).

The Partnership Commission was followed by a bilateral meeting during which the ministers took stock of bilateral relations between the two countries and the general situation in the Sahel.

Since 1993, Senegal has been one of the seven priority partner countries of Luxembourg's development cooperation programme.
