Luxembourg's Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs has confirmed that a Luxembourgish student is among those injured in the shooting which took place yesterday evening in Vienna.

At least four people have died and around fifteen others were injured after several gunmen opened fire in Vienna city centre on Monday evening. Austria's Interior Minister Karl Nehammer described the incident as an Islamic terrorist attack.

Among those injured was one student from Luxembourg, who was shot in the left shoulder and is now in hospital. The student had been in Ruprechtsplatz in central Vienna when the shooting broke out.

The Luxembourg Embassy in Vienna and Luxembourg's Foreign Ministry will continue to monitor the situation closely and are in regular contact with the Austrian authorities and the victim's family.

Luxembourg's Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn, has strongly condemned this new and unjustifiable terrorist attack. He expressed his deepest sympathy to the victims and their families as well as to the Austrian government and people in these difficult times.
