The Veterinary Services Administration of Luxembourg's Ministry of Agriculture, Viticulture and Rural Development has called for vigilance when adopting or purchasing animals abroad.

In the context of the importation of cats or dogs into Luxembourg, the ministry has informed the public of the health risk that may arise from the adoption or purchase of animals abroad, particularly from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine following the detection of insufficient antibody titers against rabies.

When adopting or purchasing an animal abroad, Luxembourg residents are advised to always be vigilant with regard to the origin and the documents accompanying the animals and to choose, if possible, an animal from a country other than the aforementioned countries.

The Veterinary Services Administration has thus called on the population to give preference to the adoption or purchase of animals from Luxembourg.
