Luxembourg's Minister of Cooperation and Humanitarian Action, Paulette Lenert, is currently in Bangladesh on a field visit; on Thursday 13 June she was received by the Bangladeshi Foreign Minister, Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen; this is the first bilateral visit of a Luxembourg minister to Bangladesh.

The ministers reviewed the bilateral relations between Luxembourg and Bangladesh. Topics discussed included good cooperation in multilateral fora, trade development and opportunities for collaboration in the area of ​​skills transfer.

The ministers also referred to the Rohingya situation. Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen appealed to the international community to facilitate a lasting solution to this humanitarian crisis at Cox's Bazar, the largest refugee camp in the world that hosts some 730,000 people. In this context, Minister Paulette Lenert assured the Bangladeshi Minister of Luxembourg's continued financial support to support the humanitarian response to this crisis.
