Shortly after Friday's terrorist attack in Tunisia, Luxembourg Air Rescue (LAR) decided to divert an air ambulance retrning from another mission, to Sousse in Tunisia; the air ambulance is equipped as flying intensive care unit, with a crew consisting of two pilots, a paramedic and an intensive nurse being on site in readiness to repatriate any wounded back to Luxembourg.

This air ambulance was commissioned to repatriate two Luxair customers back to the Grand Duchy on Friday night. The two tourists, while not physically injured in the attack, were witnesses and were traumatised meaning that remaining in Tunisia was impossible for them. Luxair is also offering to repatriate any other customer who wishes to cut short their holiday in Tunisia.

Immediately after this operation, the LAR air ambulance flew back to Tunisia, to fly back a British citizen, who had been seriously wounded by grenade fragments, to England.

Another LAR ambulance is in Tunisia and is currently waiting to fly another injured British tourist home this afternoon.

The LAR fleet has a total of 5 air ambulance aircraft that are in service worldwide.
