From 6 December 2016, Belgians and Luxembourgers will have access to additional insurance for their babysitters for an extra €1 on the Bsit app.

Whilst searching for a babysitter on applications has been a reality for some months, now parents in Belgium and Luxembourg will have the option of adding insurance for their babysitters with the click of a button and for €1.

This optional insurance is thanks to the Belgian babysitting app Bsit and covers both children and their babysitters on the way and during the babysitting session. The option will be available as part of its babysitting service.

Broker Sébastien Van Ingelgem specified that the insurance offered by the app “intervenes in the case of an accident suffered by the babysitter or the children.” It even covers accidents which were not the babysitter’s fault.

He added, however, that the app’s insurance does not replace the obligatory domestic service insurance for parents in Belgium.

One of the developers of Bsit, Géraldine Biebuyck, has stated that: “We are very proud to be able to offer a simple and practical insurance system to our users.” She named “confidence and peace of mind” as being at the heart of Bsit.

Therefore, the main objective of this optional insurance is to offer a simple, flexible, affordable and international solution to the previous lack of adapted digital services. It may also encourage other start-ups who want to become more international.

As well as its international aspect, Bsit, which is an app which allows parents to find babysitters who have been recommended by their friends, has developed a local dimension. As such, users can find babysitters within 300 metres from their homes.
