Details:
The Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg is putting on performances of the English-language play The Confessions from Friday 3 to Sunday 5 May 2024.
Real life is where the real drama lies for British writer/director Alexander Zeldin. Grand Théâtre audiences have already seen two productions of his politically charged Inequalities trilogy of devised plays created in collaboration with non-actors (Beyond Caring and Faith, Hope and Charity). He also brought his first French-language play, Une mort dans la famille, to the Théâtres de la Ville, where he is now an associate artist.
Alexander Zeldin's new play, The Confessions, is based on interviews with his mother. Through her stories, he plots her authentic history as she progresses from birth in small-town New South Wales in 1943 to the bored affair of a naval wife in 1960s Sydney, the liberation of a mature student in the 1970s, a new life with the Russian Jewish refugee she meets in London in 1984, and talking to her grandchild at the end of her life.
The performances are scheduled for Friday 3 and Saturday 4 May, both days at 20:00, and Sunday 5 May at 17:00.
Each performance is preceded by an introduction to the play by Janine Goedert.
Tickets cost €20 for adults and €8 for youth. Kulturpass welcome. Further details: https://theatres.lu/fr/theconfessions
