Details:

The Jan Garbarek Group featuring Trilok Gurtu will play a concert on 27 April 2019 at the Philharmonie, from 20:00.

The Norwegian saxophone player Jan Garbarek will perform at the Philharmonie this month for the first time. He is one of those musicians who immediately stand out from the crowd thanks to his unmistakable tone; he accomplishes this by a clear emphasis on melodic lines, a brilliant sound and an emotionality which is grounded in the experience of silence.

Garbarek has worked with many great names of jazz; in the 1970s, for example, he was a member of Keith Jarrett’s quartet. World music is another area of expertise for him and thus his performance in Luxembourg is shared with the Indian percussionist Trilok Gurtu. Their joint performance on 27 April is part of an artistic partnership guided by the spirit of openness.

Jan Garbarek will play the saxophone and Trilok Gurtu percussion, whilst Rainer Brüninghaus will play the piano and Yuri Daniel the bass.
