Details:

Kinepolis Luxembourg will be screening a documentary film on the "Van Gogh & Japan" exhibition on 6 June 2019 at Ciné Utopia in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg.

The documentary, directed by David Bickerstaff, is based on an exhibition at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. Although Vincent van Gogh never visited Japan, it was the country that had the most influence on him and his art. One cannot understand Van Gogh without understanding how Japanese art arrived in Paris in the mid-19th century and the profound impact it had on artists such as Monet, Degas and, above all, Van Gogh.

In this little-known account of Van Gogh's art, the audience can understand the importance of his study of Japan. The film takes will take us not only to France and the Netherlands, but also to Japan, with the aim of continuing to explore the remarkable legacy that has so marked Van Gogh and made him the artist we know today.
