Luxembourgish choreographer and 2017 winner of the "Lëtzebuerger Danzpräis", Simone Mousset, will be showcasing her new creation "Passion of Andrea 2" at the Grand Théâtre in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg on 13 and 14 November 2019 and at the CAPE – Centre des Arts Pluriels Ettelbruck on 15 November 2019.
Packed with humour and irony, the Passion of Andrea 2 is a continuation of a previous fictional version of the same theatre piece: the Passion of Andrea 1. It is around the memory and the ephemeral presence of this "original work" that three characters, all of whom are Andrea, try to create a new theatre piece. In search of a precarious balance and a semblance of understanding, the dancers plunge into a strange whirlwind of burlesque scenes and drag the audience into an increasingly confusing mise en abyme. The play seems at times like a farce, a boxing ring, a debate, a musical and a mini-ballet, where speech is harmoniously intertwined with the gestures of the performers.
Commenting on her latest creation, Simone Mousset, who was in charge of the concept and the choreography, said: "I have always wanted to create a controversial copy of one of my works".
The performance, which is in English and French, features dancers Luke Divall, Lewys Holt and Mathis Kleinschnittiger, with Alberto Ruiz Soler in charge of the music.
This is a production by Simone Mousset Projects, in co-production with the KLAP Maison pour la Danse, the Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg and the CAPE – Centre des Arts Pluriels Ettelbruck and in partnership with Trois C-L – Centre de Création Chorégraphique Luxembourgeois, Maison du Portugal André de Gouveia Paris, Dance City Newcastle, Fondation Indépendance and the Monodrama Festival. Choreodrome, Touch Wood via The Place London, supported the project financially.
The international premiere of the Passion of Andrea 2 will be held on 10 November 2019 at the KLAP Maison pour la danse in Marseille, France, followed by the Luxembourg premiere on 13 and 14 November 2019 at the Grand Théâtre and a performance on 15 November 2019 at the CAPE in Ettelbruck.
