Details:  The Law and Politics of the European Convention on Human Rights: Facing the Challenges of a Pan-European System. As ‘crises’ of various types mount across Europe, the Council of Europe's European Court of Human Rights finds itself occupying a central position in relation to many of the continent’s major political fault lines. Contextualising this contemporary reality, Professor Robert Harmsen will survey the historical development of the Strasbourg Court, covering both the progressive legitimation of the post-war West European system and the distinctive challenges that it now faces as a pan-European body.
