Details: The ‘Octave’ is the most important religious event of the year in Luxembourg. It starts on the third Sunday after Easter and is celebrated with services in the cathedral and a market on Knuedler (Place Guillaume II).
The Octave has been a religious tradition in Luxembourg since 1666 and unites pilgrims to pay tribute to honour Our Lady of Luxembourg, the Virgin Mary. After the traditional service on the cathedral, many people proceed to the ‘Octavsmäertchen’ on Knuedler, just beside the cathedral itself.
