The Bicycle Art and Film Festival (BAFF) is a free festival dedicated to biking culture and will be taking place on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 August 2016 at the Rotondes in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie.

This year, the start of the festival will coincide with the Closing Night of the “Congés annulés” events at Rotondes.

Although the festival focuses on "biking culture", the Bicycle Art & Film Festival is not just about cyclists and bike enthusiasts. There will be films screened, a market with used bicycles, and workshops. In addition to this D.I.Y workshops, photo exhibitions and visual arts are also part of the programme.

PROGRAMME:

FRIDAY 26/08 @ 18:00

- 18:00-22:00 Bicycle Second Hand “NIGHT-Market”; experience Luxembourg’s first Night-Market for second hand bicycles of all kinds.

- From 18:00 Mobilitéit Awards Ceremony (invitation only) - A ceremony for all award winners in this year’s ‘Mam Vëlo op d’Schaff’ bike-to-work and bike-to-school challenge.

- From 18:00 Photo exhibition: “THE BELAIR Velodrome”

SATURDAY 27/08 @ 10:00

- 10:00-18:00 Bicycle Second Hand Market; the Market that started as a Night-Market on Friday evening will continue on Saturday and be expanded with a second hand accessories market.

- 10:00-18:00 Bike Repair Café: a bicycle maintenance team will be happy to help you with small adjustments right on the spot. Be it a puncture repair, a brake adjustment or simply advise on your riding position, feel free to come!

- From 10:00 Photo exhibition: “THE BELAIR Velodrome”

- 14:00-15:30 Fix Your Bike Workshop - Learn some basic tips and tricks on how to fix your bike!

- 16:00-18:00 Alley Cat - Messenger-style race with checkpoints throughout the City of Luxembourg which you need to find using your skills and abilities.

- 18:00-19:30 Bicycle Short Films

- 20:00 Goldsprint Tournament & Afterparty - A Goldsprint is a bicycle roller race and social event. Riders on stationary bikes compete against each other in front of spectators.

Cycle Me Home - Transsylvania (29 mins, Hungary, 2015), directed by Levente Klára, Máté Pálla

Synopsis: One year after the CMH team left for Transylvania to get lost in the hills and forests with their brakeless track bikes, they present the film about the epic adventure that made them conquer the world-famous Transfagarasan road. Fighting against physical and mental fatigue they were searching for the true adventurer, traveler and cyclist in themselves.

L'Eroica - Edizione (7 mins, Italy, 2015), directed by Christian Bohm

Synopsis: A documentary about the world’s most famous retro ride in the heart of Tuscany. The “L’Eroica” is a time capsule of the golden era of cycling that has already celebrated its 19th Edition in 2015. Ride the strada biancha of Chianti on pre-1987 bikes, wearing woollen jerseys, and fuelled by amazing Italian food and wine!

Rad Race - Tour De EspaNa (26 mins, Germany, 2016), directed by Hendrik Thul

Synopsis: The idea of the Rad Race Crew was to ride something similar to a pro tour: with a fixed route, daily stops and a crew bus that had everything you needed: a mechanic, some new tubes, tires, some food and drinks. The result was a fantastic trip from Cadiz on the Spanish Atlantic coast to Barcelona with a total of 1,483km and endless climbs (18,000km of altitude) with 15 riders.
