Details: The English-speaking Section of natur&ëmwelt in Luxembourg has announced an evening event on Tuesday 16 August, from 19:00, at the Haff Remich nature reserve in Remerschen (meet outside the Biodiversum) to observe the starlings before they roost for the night.
Starlings might seem like a very annoying bunch of birds when you just realised that they yet again stole all the cherries from your garden. Most people just picture them as dull and noisy. But starlings are surprisingly colourful if you ever get to watch them from up close. Their sound is intricate and cheerful and they love to imitate all sorts of noises.
By far the most facinating fact about starlings, however, is their daily gathering just before going to roost. Before they go to sleep it seems they need to get ride of any left-over energy and form an amazing display in the twilight sky.
The event will take the form of an evening stroll that will provide those attending with some information and explanations about starlings and many other birds.
