Details: On Saturday 23 July 2016 from 17:00 until 03:00 the Blues'n Jazz Rallye event will be held as a part of the Summer in the City of 2016.

On Saturday 23 July 2016 the annual Blues’n Jazz Rallye festival will take place in Luxembour-Grund, Clausen and Pfaffenthal starting at 17:00 and not finishing until 03:00.

Every year, the Blues’n Jazz open-air festival is organised by the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO), is widely popular and attracts fans of eclectic music – and it is located in the picturesque neighbourhoods of Luxembourg city.

During this crazy, sleepless night over 200 artists will be performing and 50 different concerts will take place in nineteen different cafés, bars, restaurants and in the Casemates du Bock. Eleven open-air stages will be set up at the ancient fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The festival attracts world-class musicians and a diverse audience.

This year there are some changes to the festival, such as the two concerts that will take place at the Tun Deutsch area at the Casemates du Bock. This area will also serve as the backstage.

The new public elevator from Parc Municipal (Pescatore) to Pfaffenthal will be open on the evening before the festival, on Friday 22 July 2016. The elevator will serve as one of the entrances to the festival.

During the previous years, the Pfaffenthal district was not included in the festival. This year, however, there will be three open-air stages in Pfaffenthal and thus the festival will stretch over seven kilometres in total.

The jazz headliners include: l’Orchestre National de Jazz, Caro José Quartet, The Ploctones, Eliana Burki, Palo and many jazz musicians from Luxembourg. As for blues artists/bands, Inga & Krumminga, Lativian Blues Band, Marc Stone Band, Shakura’s Aida, 24 Pesos and Johnny Clark & The Outlaws – and various talented Luxembourgish artists – will all also perform .

The Blues’n Jazz Rallye 2016 festival will commence at 17:00. The open-air concerts will go on until 01:00 in the morning, whereas only the indoor concerts will go on till 03:00.

With regards to public safety, a prevention plan has been developed by the relevant departments of the Ville de Luxembourg. As usual, there will be ambulances, security officers and firefighters present at the site to ensure the comfort and well-being of the audience and to be able to intervene if needed.

The festival is free to the public. As well as Luxembourgish artists, there will be international performers from Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Latvia, the United States, Canada, Italy, France, The Netherlands, Great Britain, Germany and Cuba.

To get to the festival, you can take the free shuttle bus from either P&R Glacis, Badanstalt, Clausener Breck, Boulevard Konrad Adenauer or Parking Foire. This bus will leave every ten minutes from 18:30 until 03:00. The CN1 (City Night Bus) will also be going every 15 minutes from 22:00 until 03:30. This bus also goes to Neudorf and Cents.

During the festival, as well as the set-up ans strike-down, it will not be possible for motorists to drive on the following roads: Rue de la Tour Jacob, Rue de Trêves, Rue Münster, Biisserweg, Montée du Grund, Rue Sosthène Weis, Rue Plaetis and Rue St Ulric.

The site will be accessible for people with reduced mobility, elderly and pregnant women by the Plateau du Saint-Esprit / Grund elevator.
