Details: On Monday 4 April, the Bachelor 'Cultures Européennes' of the University of Luxembourg and Utopolis Belval will present the film 'The King's Speech' as part of the new movie programme series Pop(corn) Culture organised by the university.
'The King's Speech' is the 2010 work of director Tom Hooper and writer David Seidler and follows King George VI (Colin Firth) in the 1930s as he begins sessions with speech and language therapist Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush) to cure himself of his stammer. The movie screening will be followed by a discussion with Dr. Oliver Kohns, who works on Literature and Political Theory at the University of Luxembourg. Held for the eighth consecutive year, the 2016 Pop(corn) Culture series is focused on the theme of 'Monsters and Monuments' and the relationship between negative stereotypes, the fear of 'others' and the search for role models.
