Buergbrennen is the annual event held in municipalities and towns across the Grand Duchy at which large bonfires - many with crosses atop - are lit and people enjoy gluhwein and grilled sausages. The event dates from pagan times and celebrates saying goodbye to winter while welcoming in the spring.
