Details: On Sunday 3 January 2016 at 11:00 in the Grande Salle, the Cercle Cité will celebrate the new Year by welcoming for the third time the Luxembourg Chamber Orchestra (OCL), under the direction of its leader David Reiland, and with special guest, soprano Hélène Bernardy for some "lyrical delicacies".
The event will take the form of a traditional New Year’s concert featuring works by members of the Strauss family.
New Year’s concerts do not come any more traditional than that broadcast around the world from Vienna on 1 January, featuring music by the Strauss dynasty. Two days later, with this year the soprano Hélène Bernardy as special guest, David Reiland conducts the Orchestre de Chambre du Luxembourg at the Cercle Cité for a concert that will welcome in the New Year in style in the Grand Duchy.
The programme will focus on the king of the waltz, Johann Strauss II, and includes his ‘Blue Danube’ and a number of other familiar and hugely popular dances.
So step into the Cercle Cité and step back in time to Vienna of the 1850s and enjoy an uplifting happy New Year celebration.
