Sexually explicit, subversive and, quite literally, 'The Shit', Peaches' show at Den Atelier on Wednesday 16 December 2015 promises to be a riotous occasion.
Merill Beth Nisker, aka Peaches, defiantly threw open the doors to her musical career in the 1990s as part of folk trio Mermaid Café, before creating rock band The Shit in the mid-90s. She then branched out on her own, releasing solo albums 'Fancypants Hoodlum' and 'The Teaches of Peaches'. The definition of 'performance art', her shows overthrow gender norms and offer a "raucous presence on the margins of pop" according to The Guardian, who has highlighted Peaches herself as a "truth-spouting delight".
For her December Grand Duchy show, Peaches will be unleashing 'Rub', her first new album in six years, overflowing with adventure and audacity and featuring performances by Kim Gordon and Feist. Brimming with seductive rhythms and bedroom-rattling bass, 'Rub' is not for the faint-hearted.
