On Saturday 5 September 2015, renowned cellist André Mergenthaler will be performing at the Hall Paul Wurth in the Fond-de-Gras park.

Cellist and composer André Mergenthaler was born in Luxembourg in 1957, later studying cello at the Musikhochschule Cologne with Russian-born cellist Boris Pergamenschikow, who went on to found the European Chamber Music Association as a means of promoting musical collaboration between young performers in western and eastern Europe.

André Mergenthaler has earned himself international acclaim in his own right, having toured with singer Julia Migenes before joining the legendary French group Art Zoyd, with whom he performed on stages around the world. Mergenthaler shows a great love for many fields, having composed for theatre and film, and whilst he is passionate about all music, it is for his Cello-Loops, in which he integrates Bach and Deep Purple, that he is most recognised.

Nicknamed the 'Cello Poet' and the 'Crazy Musician', André Mergenthaler is known for being carried away in a recital, sweeping his audiences into a musical whirlwind.
