Details: The 70th anniversary of Luxembourg’s Liberation and the Battle of the Bulge are being commemorated with “The Patton Concerts: Liberation & Reconciliation For Every Generation”, at 20:30 on Monday 15 December 2014 at Den Atelier in Luxembourg-Hollerich.

The week of 15 December marks the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, a significant event in Luxembourg’s history. In cooperation with the US Embassy Luxembourg, the Ville de Luxembourg and the Luxembourg City Tourist Office, Helen Patton, granddaughter of legendary WWII U.S. soldier General George S. Patton Jr., and the founder of Patton Luxembourg, The Patton Foundation, and Patton Stiftung: Sustainable Trust, will be presenting a special music event at Den Atelier.

Entitled “The Patton Concerts: Liberation. Reconciliation. For Every Generation,” the concerts are a statement of forgiveness and reconciliation.

After the highly successful reception of commemorative D-Day Concerts in Normandy in June, The Patton Foundation and Patton Stiftung: Sustainable Trust were asked to organise a similar event in Luxembourg in order to honour a group of veterans returning to Luxembourg with the Battle of the Bulge Tour Group, led by their president, Colonel Doug Dillard, a Sergeant of Communication in the Ardennes in 1944.

The concert will feature Thomas Blug, winner of Best German Pop/Rock guitarist, Thijs van Leer, leader of the Dutch band Focus, (awarded a knighthood for his exceptional services to music), Ernie Hammes, Director of the Luxembourg Jazz Orchestra, and Caroline Rose and Butch Williams from the The Voice. Also performing will be the Spitfire Sisters from the UK who will be playing 40s swing classics. Joining the band will be world-class musicians from the US, Germany, France, the UK, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg locals Remo Cavallini and Leana Sealy, all on stage for one concert.

Don’t miss this All Star show with rock‘n roll music including songs by Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown and U2, commemorating the 70th Anniversary of Luxembourg’s liberation and the Battle of the Bulge.

The Patton Foundation and Patton Trust are non-profit organisations with an aim to nurture constructive sustainable culture and are devoted to connecting the legacy of General George S. Patton, Jr., to the contemporary study and practice of leadership; continuing and expanding the Patton family concern for troops, veterans and their families; and perpetuating the memory of the WWII Generation as an example of service and sacrifice. In June 2014, while in Normandy, Ms. Patton received the Legion of Honour from the Republic of France for her more than 25 years of service to veterans.
