Details: Rockhal has announced that, following its highly successful hosting of the Cirque du Soleil's Quidam show in June this year, the Canadian group is returning to Luxembourg in February 2016 with a different show, Varekai.

Described as "a volcano full of magic" and "Drama meets acrobatics in a dreamlike setting", there will be 7 shows over 5 days.

The impossible is possible in the magic world of Varekai, the captivating arena production by Cirque du Soleil. The mysteries of the universe and the human mind are reflected by action-packed dream sequences full of drama and acrobatics.

From 17 to 21 February 2016, this astonishing, colourful show is going to make a stop-over at the Rockhal in Luxembourg with the best of acrobatics, fantastic costumes and authentic live music. The audience in Luxembourg is going to discover Varekai, the special magic of Cirque du Soleil.

At the summit of a volcano, deep within a magic forest, the adventure starts within an enchanted setting which seems without end. The sky lets go a solitary young man, and the story begins. In a kaleidoscopic world, he meets fantastical creatures and lives to see adventures that are both absurd and extraordinary. At the edge of time, in this place of unlimited possibility, all paths lead to Varekai, the magic formula for the unique.

Written and directed by Dominic Champagne, this production is a tribute to the nomadic souls, to the spirit and art of the circus tradition, as well as to those who quest after it with passion. In their language, Varekai means "wherever". Power and skill, courage and ability merge into breath-taking scenes, set against dramatic music, otherworldly sets, and wild choreography with permanent movement.

The pendulum first swings backwards in time, with ancient and rare circus traditions such as Icarian Games, Water Meteors and Georgian Dance.  The show then catapults the audience to the future, with revolutionary variations and acrobatic acts such as Russian Swings and the Triple Trapeze.

The show focuses on fourteen world-class acrobatics performances which only Cirque du Soleil is able to present. Accompanied by a spotlight symphony and its own soundtrack, the unique and touching world of Varekai arises in the midst of an imaginary landscape.

Cirque du Soleil's self-imposed claim is to touch people, to inspire their power of imagination and to defy their senses. The unusual blend of acrobatics, music, dance and theatre showcased by Varekai in an arena format certainly answers this claim.

Created in 1984 by a group of 20 street performers, Cirque du Soleil is a Québec-based company offering high-class artistic entertainment which has more than 5,000 employees, including more than 1,300 artists from more than 50 countries.

Cirque du Soleil has enchanted and delighted more than 100 million spectators in more than 300 cities in over 40 countries on six continents. You'll find further information about Cirque du Soleil on www.cirquedusoleil.com.
