Details: What makes people loyal? What makes us become part of a group and abide by its unwritten rules? Until now, economics has only been able to partially answer these questions.
On Thursday 12 September the University of Luxembourg will host a public discussion led by world-renowned economist and Professor of Economics at the University of Queensland, Paul Frijters, to debate these fundamental questions.
The debate will be based on the findings published in the book “An Economic Theory of Greed, Love, Groups and Networks,” which Professor Frijters co-authored with Gigi Foster. This ground-breaking work presents a new unified theory of human behaviour and, for the first time, seeks to answer questions such as, “Why are people loyal? How do groups form and how do they create incentives for their members to abide by group norms?” from an economic point of view.
The debate will be held in English and will be moderated by Pierre Picard, Professor of Economics at the University of Luxembourg. Other panellists include Andrew Clark, CNRS Research Professor, Paris School of Economics, and Conchita D’Ambrosio, Professor of Economics, PEARL Chair, University of Luxembourg.
The event will take place at the University’s “Salle Tavenas” at 102, Avenue Pasteur, L-2311 Luxembourg-Limpertsberg, from 18:00 – 19:00, followed by an opportunity for further discussion over drinks.
