The Poets, Essayists & Novelists (PEN) asbl is organising a peaceful and symbolic rally in Luxembourg in support of Iranian victims and voices of protest at 14:00 on Thursday 29 January 2026 at Place de l’Europe in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.

According to the association, the purpose of the rally is to honour the memory of Iranian citizens killed during recent protest movements and to amplify the voices of Iranian protesters, both inside Iran and across the diaspora, who have been subjected to violent and systematic repression by the regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The organisers said the rally is also intended to convey a series of demands addressed to the European Union on behalf of Iranian civil society both inside and outside the country. These include calling on the EU to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organisation, in view of its role in repression, systematic violence and serious human rights violations, as well as the expulsion of all ambassadors and diplomats of the Islamic Republic of Iran from EU territory.

They also call for recognition of Reza Pahlavi as a leader of a democratic transition, based on a proposed framework founded on four core principles: the preservation of Iran’s territorial integrity, the separation of religion and state, equality of all citizens before the law, and the right of the Iranian people to self-determination through a free referendum.
