Details: The 25th Midi de la Microfinance event will take place on Thursday 27 June 2013, at 12:00 in the Auditorium of the Banque de Luxembourg (14 Boulevard Royal, Luxembourg-ville), on the topic "Left out from financial services in Africa: How to reach the unbanked?"

Despite the commitment of the inclusive finance sector, large parts of the African population are still denied access to basic banking services. One of the challenges for the inclusive finance industry is to identify and understand the reasons of this exclusion: What is the client profile of the excluded? How would it be possible to better meet their needs?

Dr Prega Ramsamy will be drawing up a portrait of the unbanked people in Africa and will explain how the Finscope research methodology is used to enter people’s financial diary and to discover how they manage their money.

Dr Ramsamy is the CEO of FinMark Trust, an independent trust established in 2002, funded by the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID).

The conference will be held in English. With the support of Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Directorate for Development Cooperation. In collaboration with the Banque de Luxembourg.
