Aide à l’Enfance de l’Inde et du Népal (AEIN), in collaboration with Les Amis du Tibet, is organising a special screening of the Nepalese film Shambhala at Ciné Utopia in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg on Wednesday 11 December 2024 at 18:30.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Min Bahadur Bham, Shambhala is Nepal’s official submission for the 2024 Academy Awards in the Best International Film category. Set in the breathtaking and remote Dolpo region of Nepal, Shambhala tells a poignant story of love, loss and self-discovery.

The film centres on Pema, a woman in a polyandrous marriage - a traditional practice where one woman marries multiple brothers. When her first husband, Tashi, disappears on the trade route to Lhasa, rumours threaten her family's happiness. Determined to find him, Pema embarks on a perilous journey through the unforgiving wilderness alongside her second husband, the monk Karma. What unfolds is a transformative tale of resilience and spiritual awakening, culminating in Pema's search for the mythical kingdom of Shambhala, a place where humanity and nature live in harmony.

The film lasts approximately 150 minutes. It is in Nepali and Tibetan, with English and German subtitles.

Tickets are available at the Ciné Utopia box office or online at: https://kinepolis.lu/en/movies/detail/35084/HO00006944/0/avant-premiere-shambhala/
