Details:

The City of Luxembourg (Ville de Luxembourg - VdL) is organising, in collaboration with Repair Café Lëtzebuerg, a fourth edition of "Repair Café @ Schluechthaus" on Saturday 20 April 2024, from 10:00 to 15:00.

This event forms part of the VdL's overall approach to climate protection. Volunteer repairers with the necessary expertise will help visitors bring damaged or defective objects back to life (clothing, small household appliances, bicycles, toys, small furniture, etc.). Visitors can then lend a hand to the repairers who will pass on and share their know-how. In addition, a textile repair and stain removal workshop will allow visitors, armed with their damaged or stained textiles, to learn the techniques necessary to independently give a second life to their beloved clothes or household linens.

Educational in nature, the objective of the "Repair Cafés" is to refurbish objects requiring small repairs in order to reduce waste, new acquisitions and consequently the ecological footprint. Beyond their practical dimension, the "Repair Cafés" serve as places for exchanges and meetings.

In terms of catering, Fairtrade, organic and local products will be made available to volunteer repairers and visitors.

The event will take place at the old slaughterhouse (Schluechthaus) located at 5 Rue de l'Abattoir, L-1111 Luxembourg. The event is part of a modernisation and pre-work revitalisation programme for the Schluechthaus.
