The Comité pour une Paix Juste au Proche-Orient asbl (CPJPO; Committee for Fair Peace in the Middle East) is organising a demonstration in Luxembourg City on Saturday 30 December 2023, calling for an "immediate" and "lasting" ceasefire in Gaza.
Participants are invited to gather in Glacis in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg (theatre side) at 14:45, departing at 15:00 in the direction of Place de Clairefontaine (arrival at 16:00).
The CPJPO stated: "Day after day, Israeli bombings result in hundreds of new victims. The percentage of civilian victims exceeds anything known in military history, the dead are buried in mass graves." The organisation also spoke of the consequences of restricted humanitarian access, which is "leading to catastrophic levels of food insecurity and acute risk of famine."
The CPJPO added it was calling on the Luxembourg government "to commit hand in hand with other states of the European Union [...] to the end of the bombings, the end of the war against the Gaza Strip and a peace solution in accordance with international law."
