Handicap International Luxembourg is organising the 24th edition of its "Solidarity Pyramid" (or shoe pyramid) against the bombing of civilians, in Place d'Armes in Luxembourg-Ville on Saturday 14 October 2023 from 09:00 to 18:00.
On 18 November 2022 in Dublin, 88 States, including Luxembourg, signed a historic Political Declaration against the use of explosive weapons in populated areas.
In Ukraine, the Palestinian territories, Syria and Yemen, this practice is still relevant and places civilians on the frontline, noted Handicap International. The organisation added that between 2021 and 2022, the number of civilians killed by explosive weapons in populated areas has almost doubled, from nearly 11,000 to more than 20,000.
