The 76th edition of the Bazar de la Croix-Rouge (Red Cross Bazaar) is taking place at Glacis in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 November 2022.
Organised by the volunteers of the local section of the Red Cross in Luxembourg City, this event offers visitors a festive weekend of solidarity, with unusual gifts, delicacies to eat on site or to take away and the traditional meeting with the "Kleeschen" (Saint Nicholas).
The Red Cross Bazaar will open its doors at 10:00 and close at 18:00 on both days. Highlights on Saturday include celebrating the Red Cross Bazaar's 76th anniversary with cake at 16:00, followed by a conference on the theme of gender-based violence. On Sunday, young and not-so-young alike will have the chance to meet the Kleeschen between 15:00 and 17:00.
Throughout the weekend, food lovers will be able to enjoy the Food Village, which will offer drinks, seafood, pastries, waffles, salmon and other gastronomic specialities from the Mediterranean and elsewhere. For those looking for a good deal, the "usual suspects" will be setting up stands, along with some new additions. Whether they are looking for second-hand products (clothes, toys and other bits and bobs), hoping to go bargain hunting at the Coup de Cœur flea market or simply to discover home decorations or jewellery, visitors will be able to ease into their end-of-year present shopping without having to brave the December rush. A tombola for children will also be organised on site, as well as an exhibition and the sale of works by various artists.
The theme of the conference on Saturday (at 16:30) will be "Fighting against gender-based violence". Panelists will include Marc Bichler (Luxembourg's Ambassador to the United Nations), Ali Bandiaré (President of the Niger Red Cross), Prosper Zombre (Head of Mission in Niger of the Luxembourg Red Cross), Elisabeth Gueye (Gender and Human Rights Expert at LuxDev) and Nadine Conrardy (Director of the Social Action and Health Department of the Luxembourg Red Cross).
The money raised during the Red Cross Bazaar will be used for the benefit of the actions of the Luxembourg Red Cross in favour of young people, in Luxembourg and around the world. More details are available at www.croix-rouge.lu.
