The NETWORK, Luxembourg's oldest international professional business women's association, is organising an online event on "Thriving in Adversity" on Wednesday 22 September 2021, from 19:00 to 22:00.
Ahead of Pink October, The NETWORK is teaming up with Think Pink Lux and Denise Clarke to host an evening of open discussion, understanding, support and learning on the topic of cancer.
Representatives of Think Pink (one of The NETWORK’s chosen charities) will begin the evening by explaining how their organisation supports women with cancer, their friends and family in Luxembourg, as well as how we as individuals can support a loved one with cancer, and how The NETWORK plans to raise funds for the association with its very own Pink Team.
This first part will also look at the different cancers affecting women: knowing about them and how to prevent or detect them early.
Resilience, a sense of purpose, accepting change and relationships will be on the agenda in the second half of the evening. Denise Clarke, a qualified psychologist, psychotherapist and teacher, will share her experience of living with the day-to-day reality of cancer, and how it affects professional life and personal growth.
Two years ago, Denise was diagnosed with colon cancer with liver metastasis. Twelve cycles of chemotherapy, four laparotomies and a temporary (now reversed) stoma later, she is here on this beautiful planet feeling grateful and healthy and looking forward to living the rest of her life fully. Her mission is to help promote a healthy lifestyle on a physical as well as psychological and spiritual level.
Denise will lead participants in break-out discussion groups focused on making small achievable changes in life to create and maintain good health and create balance in all we do - and to avoid illness.
This event is free of charge for The NETWORK members, with registration closing on Monday 20 September 2021. Tickets for non-members wishing to attend cost €10 (plus €1.39 fee); registration closes on Thursday 16 September 2021.
