The number of jobseekers registered with the ADEM employment agency in Luxembourg has increased by 8.9% over one year.

As of 31 December 2019, the number of available resident jobseekers registered with the ADEM was 16,532. Over one year, this represents an increase of 1,346 individuals, or 8.9%. On the other hand, the number of available non-resident jobseekers registered with the ADEM was 2,382 at the end of December 2019, a decrease of 9.6% compared to December 2018.

In addition, the total number of beneficiaries of employment benefits in Luxembourg was 4,083 at the end of last month. Over one year, this represents an increase of 48 individuals, or 1.2%.

Over the course of December 2019, the ADEM opened 2,252 new applications from resident jobseekers, a decrease of 3.1% compared to the previous year. The agency also opened 332 new applications from non-resident jobseekers, which represents an decrease of 18.8% over one year.

During the month of December 2019, employers reported 2,348 vacancies to the ADEM, which equated to 116 or 4.7% fewer posts than in December 2018.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate calculated by STATEC stayed at 5.4% (the same level as the previous month).
