On Wednesday 14 and Friday 16 October 2020, the graduation ceremony and awards took place as part of the training leading to the BTS (Brevet de technicien supérieur) in Luxembourg.

This year, three three ceremonies were held respectively at the Parc-Hôtel Alvisse and in the large auditorium of the Maison du Savoir on the University of Luxembourg's Belval campus. Around 250 students received their BTS certificates.

The graduates came from 28 different training disciplines. In four of these courses, the very first diplomas were awarded, namely in "Game Art and Game Design" and "Game Programming and Game Design", offered at the Lycée des Arts et Métiers, in "Cloud Computing", offered by the Lycée Guillaume Kroll, and in “Hospitality Management”, offered at the Luxembourg Hotel and Tourism School (École d'hôtellerie et de tourisme du Luxembourg).

On the same occasion, a number of particularly deserving students were honoured.

In his speeches, Claude Meisch, Minister for Higher Education and Research, insisted on the particular conditions under which the students had to complete their training course. The 2019/20 summer semester was marked by a series of adaptations in terms of timetables and teaching methods in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The minister considered that the perseverance and flexibility of these students, who took advantage of and perfected their digital skills during this time, constitute the best proof that they were not only able to acquire a highly specialised professional qualification as part of their training, but also an important methodological know-how, which will serve them on the rest of their journey.

"With this higher education diploma in your pocket, you are best prepared either to try your first steps in professional life, or to continue your higher studies", concluded Minister Claude Meisch.
