On Wednesday 3 July 2024, Luxair announced it will expand its offerings for the upcoming winter season by adding the Netherlands to its list of served countries.

Starting on 27 October 2024, this new route will enable both business and leisure travellers to fly from Luxembourg to the city of Rotterdam. The connection also provides efficient access to surrounding areas, including The Hague, the Delft University, and the beaches of Zandvoort and Scheveningen.

In just 1 hour and 5 minutes on board Luxair’s De Havilland Q400, passengers will be able to discover a city renowned for its modern architecture, rich maritime history and dynamic cultural scene. Fans of contemporary art, innovative design, or those keen to explore a city with a unique character, will now be able to board a direct flight to Rotterdam.

The flight schedule comprises departures five times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, and is suited for both leisure and business travellers.

A short 20 to 30-minute drive from Rotterdam provides swift access to The Hague, connecting Luxembourg to several important European and international institutions. Students can easily reach the renowned Delft University, while North Sea lovers can enjoy strolling around the picturesque Scheveningen beach. Additionally, the beach of Zandvoort is just an hour's drive away.

According to Luxair, the De Havilland Q400, operating this route, is the ideal aircraft for the Luxembourg-Rotterdam connection due to its lower CO2 emissions and fuel efficiency. This turboprop aircraft consumes 30% less fuel compared to comparable jets, making it significantly more environmentally friendly and contributing to lower carbon emissions.

Sales for the new Rotterdam route opened on 3 July 2024. Special launch offers are available until mid-July. Light fare tickets are available from 99€ for a round trip.

Luxair concluded adding that it obtained these time slots after several years of effort and is currently seeking to secure similar slots for the upcoming summer season (April – October 2025). This aims to offer year-round connectivity for passengers and the communities.
