Shortly after 21:00 yesterday evening, Wednesday 8 January 2025, Luxair announced that, due to the temporary closure of Luxembourg airport’s runway caused by significant snowfall, take-offs and landings had been suspended, leading to disruptions in flight operations.

The exceptional snowfall resulted in the suspension of operations, causing flight disruptions.

Some flights had to be diverted to other airports but subsequently returned Luxembourg since the reopening of the runway, including from Porto and Barcelona.

The flights from Nice and Rome had been diverted to Liege, but the worsening of the weather conditions in the area has resulted in the closure of the runway in Liege too, until further notice.

For operational reasons bus transfer to Luxembourg was organised for the passengers coming back from Agadir, which had also landed in Liege.
Some flights departing from Luxembourg were cancelled, including to London, Vienna, Porto and Madrid.

Luxair's statement included "Luxair is doing everything possible to minimize disruptions, while prioritising the safety of its passengers and crews, but in certain cases, unforeseen events may impact operations".
