Founded in 1968, the Mouvement Ecologique is a non-partisan and politically-neutral organisation, working on typical environmental subjects such as climate and energies, transport, sustainable development, etc...

Its main goals are to develop future-oriented sustainable ideas and to maintain the quality of life for everybody. With the help of over 3,000 members, its members take action in different ways, for example by issuing public statements, supporting and implementing campaigns, as well as analysing legislative projects. Besides this, it wants to share its vision of an ecological and sustainable life with a broad public through organised events such as “Alles op de Vëlo” and our upcoming “Oekofestival”.

The Oekofestival takes place on Friday 22 September (from 16:00) and on Saturday 23 September (from 11:00) in Pfaffenthal at the Oekozenter.

Every election year (national or local) it publishes a brochure prepared with the help of its members providing ideas and suggestions for local politicians. In addition to this, it sum up its 9 primary points in a smaller publication which also exists in English.

The traditional “Oekofoire” is, for the first time in 29 years, being replaced by an “Oekofestival”. However, the goal is to retain all the elements which made the trade fair extraordinary in the first place: bringing people together, sharing interesting future-oriented ideas, setting the stage for the start of the political year and much more. The Oekofestival also includes music, art exhibitions, discussion fora, demonstrations (e.g. Georges Christen), NGOs as well as organic food and drinking.

In addition, the Mouvement Ecologique operates its own bistro “Oekosoph” in Pfaffenthal; in addition to the delicious menu, composed of fair trade / organic food an drinks, they organise, once a month, a language coffe bar where members of the public are able to meet qualified Luxembourgish teachers and other people who are willing to talk and practice Luxembourgish with participants - see http://www.meco.lu/de/blog/documentcenter/sproochecafe-am-oekosoph/
