European institute of choral singing, INECC Luxembourg, and Bach Vereenegung Lëtzebuerg have announced a celebration of Baroque composer Johann Sebastian Bach will take place across Luxembourg City on Saturday 21 March 2026.
“Bach in the Subways” will feature 52 mini-concerts at 21 venues across Luxembourg City, including churches, commercial spaces and shops, as well as other locations in Luxembourg-Ville, Luxembourg-Gare and Luxembourg-Kirchberg.
Initiated in 2010 by a New York cellist on the occasion of Johann Sebastian Bach's birthday, “Bach in the Subways” aims to introduce a broad audience to the work of the famous Baroque composer.
INECC said that following the original event, each year has brought together thousands of musicians from around the world who voluntarily offer their interpretations of Bach’s compositions, including jazz versions and arrangements played on instruments Bach would never have considered.
All concerts will be free of charge.
