The 5th edition of the Festival of English-Language School Theatre (FEST) is taking place at the Rotondes Black Box Studio in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 February 2026.
Founded in 2018 and held every second year, FEST brings together secondary schools from across Luxembourg, each presenting a one-act play of approximately 40 minutes in English. The festival aims to showcase young acting talent that is rarely visible outside the school environment, while also giving school drama groups the opportunity to meet, exchange experiences and learn from one another.
After previous editions in larger venues such as the Mierscher Kulturhaus and the Rotondes Grande Salle, the 2026 festival will, for the first time, use a studio space. The Black Box Studio is expected to bring performers closer to the audience and encourage a more intimate performance style.
This year, regular participants including Saint George’s International School and Lënster Lycée in Junglinster will be joined by the first time participants such as Lycée Vauban.
A total of eight schools will present their plays, covering a range of genres. These include: the comedy Help Desk by Don Zolidis, performed by Lycée Michel Rodange; the family show The Tiger’s Bones by Ted Hughes, performed by Lycée Michel Lucius; and the social drama Kissed the Girls and Made Them Cry by Arlene Hutton, performed by the European School in Mamer.
The full programme is available at fest.lu/programme. Tickets are currently on sale and seats are limited. The price per play is €6 for students or visitors aged sixteen or under and €10 for those over sixteen.
The 2026 edition of FEST is also planning to operate under the Green Events label, reflecting a commitment to environmental sustainability.
