The Asteroid Foundation has announced that the tenth edition of Asteroid Day will take place in Luxembourg City as a three-day programme of space exploration and discovery from Thursday 26 to Saturday 28 June 2025.
The programme aims to showcase how space science and asteroids contribute to protecting our planet, advancing sustainable resource use, and deepening our understanding of the solar system. It will feature a night sky observation, expert talks and public outreach activities at Cercle Cité, as well as a cultural performance blending science and the arts.
As noted by the organisers, Asteroid Day, recognised by the United Nations and observed annually on 30 June, commemorates the 1908 asteroid impact in Tunguska, Siberia, the largest recorded in history. Coordinated by the Luxembourg-based Asteroid Foundation with support from the Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA), the initiative engages local and international audiences with developments in space science, asteroid missions, emerging technologies and the future of sustainable space exploration
