Luxembourg’s National Youth Service (Service National de la Jeunesse - SNJ) has announced that it will hold its annual Nature Discovery Day at the Hollenfels Centre (1 rue de Tuntange, Hollenfels), on Sunday 15 June 2025 from 10:00 to 17:00.
SNJ described the Nature Discovery Day ("NaTOURerliefnisdag”) as an opportunity to appreciate the nature around Hollenfels through activities designed for schools, child minding services (les maisons relais) and youth groups and to give the public a glimpse into the daily work of the youth service.
For this year’s event, the SNJ has expanded its programme to celebrate the centre’s 50th anniversary and will feature activities for both young and old, including workshops based on the themes of bees, forests, wild plants and water, which will take place along a route between the centre, its park, the forest and local ponds. A free shuttle bus will provide transport along the route.
Other activities include Aunt Daisy (“Tata Margréitchen”) engaging attendees with stories for the whole family at 10:00 near the SNJ apiary and nature guardian, the Green Man (“Grénge Mann”), will also entertain those in attendance as he “share’s some of his secrets” at 15:00. There will also be campfire and woodcarving workshops for primary school pupils, level three and upwards.
Participation in these activities is free. However, the organisers have stated that registration is required for the workshops. This can be completed at https://www.snj.public.lu/50-joer-huelmes.
Participants will receive a map of the site and the proposed activities upon arrival to help them plan their visit and food and drink will be available on site throughout the day.
A free shuttle will be available to the public between the most remote event locations, including to and from the visitor car park at Ansembourg Castle, as well as a limited number of parking locations in Hollenfels.
