POST Luxembourg will organise an exhibition marking the 25th anniversary of the reign of Grand Duke Henri, at its HELIX headquarters in Luxembourg-Gare from Thursday 5 June to Saturday 5 July 2025.

Ahead of the official opening, POST Luxembourg invited members of the press to an exclusive preview and guided tour of the exhibition ‘Grand Duke Henri: A Reign, An Era. A Philatelic Chronicle of a Silver Jubilee’ on Wednesday 4 June 2025.

The exhibition is spread across two spaces, the ground floor and the third floor of the HELIX building, and invites visitors to explore key moments from the life of the Grand Duke through a philatelic lens that blends tradition with innovation.

“One of the reasons why we think it would be great to come and visit the exhibition is because it’s very unique, not only do you see all the stamps we produced for the Grand Duke from his childhood until now, but it also serves as a witness to the history of Luxembourg. I don’t think you can see this kind of exhibition anywhere else,” said Isabelle Faber, member of the Executive Committee and Director of Human Resources, Public Relations and CSR at POST Luxembourg.

More than thirty postage stamps feature the Grand Duke, shown alone, with the Grand Duchess or with his children. The exhibition presents a philatelic portrait tracing key moments from his childhood to major milestones such as his civil and religious marriage, the proclamation of his accession to the throne and more recent commemorative events.

“What is also nice with this exhibition is that during the preparation, we went through the archives and asked everyone what unique items they had. That’s when we found the original drawings of the Grand Duke’s portrait - the very ones you see on the stamps. These are not photographs or AI-generated images. Years ago, artists still created hand-drawn portraits and those drawings then served as the basis for the stamp,” added Isabelle Faber.

To mark the jubilee celebration, POST Philately will launch a “Deluxe” embroidered stamp featuring the official effigy of the Grand Duke on Friday 20 June 2025. According to POST Luxembourg, the stamp was produced in Austria and embroidered with gold or 24-carat gold thread. This limited-edition item of 1,000 pieces will be presented in a wooden case and sold for €150. It will be available at the exhibition from that date and can also be pre-ordered via www.postphilately.lu

A section of the exhibition is dedicated to the design and production process of what POST described as a “unique philatelic object”, created by Austrian company Hämmerle & Vogel GmbH & Co KG.

The philatelic exhibition "Grand Duke Henri: A Reign, An Era. A Philatelic Chronicle of a Silver Jubilee" is open to the public free of charge, Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 18:00 and on Saturdays from 10:00 to 16:00. The exhibition is closed on Sundays and will exceptionally be closed on Monday 9 June 2025 due to the Pentecost public holiday.

Isabelle Faber noted that on Monday 23 June 2025, the exhibition will be open to the public and visitors will be able to purchase the commemorative embroidered stamps on site, with card payment only.
