The City of Luxembourg (VdL) has announced that the 12th edition of Special Needs Awareness Weeks will take place between Tuesday 29 April and Thursday 20 November 2025.

The seven-month programme will include information stands, demonstrations, workshops, song and dance performances, meetings, conferences, meals in the dark, guided tours and more. Through this initiative, the City, together with more than 90 partners, aim to raise public awareness and encourage dialogue with those with special needs, in order to better understand the daily lives and needs of those affected, thus promoting better living together based on mutual understanding.

The comprehensive programme includes:

Dinners in the Dark:
During Dinners in the Dark, participants are guided through their meals by visually impaired people. The dinners take place almost monthly from 19:00 to 20:00 on the following dates:
- Tuesday 29 April at Le Rendez-vous (Luxembourg-Bonnevoie Sud);
- Tuesday 20 May at Flow (Luxembourg-Ville);
- Thursday 26 June at Odeon (Eich);
- Thursday 10 July at Porta Nova (Luxembourg-Limpertsberg);
- Thursday 25 September at Meliã (Luxembourg-Kirchberg);
- Thursday 23 October at Aka Cité (Luxembourg-Ville);
- Thursday 20 November at La Locanda (Luxembourg-Bonnevoie).

Special Needs Sports and Action Day:
On Saturday 10 May a Special Needs Sports and Action Day will take place on the Place d'Armes in Luxembourg-Ville from 09:00 to 18:00. There will be stalls, activities, demonstrations, various workshops, an art exhibition and conferences (Cercle Cité Auditorium). Admission is free and open to all.

Inclusion Gala: 
The 9th edition of the “Inclusion Gala: Art and Culture Without Barriers”, will take place on Friday 16 May at the Halle Victor Hugo in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg from 19:00 until 21:00. The gala will feature a performance of dance, music, theatre and poetry. The gala will be followed by a reception hosted by the VdL and a walking dinner organised in collaboration with several associations working with special needs from 21:00 until 23:00. Museum Days:
On Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 May from 10:00 to 18:00, themed guided tours and activities adapted for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, blind or visually impaired and people with special intellectual needs will take place at Villa Vauban in Luxembourg-Ville ("A Walk Through Art"), and at the Luxembourg City Museum, ("Industrialisation in Luxembourg City"). Introduction to German Sign Language:
An introduction to German sign language, “Einführung in die Gebärdensprache" will take place on Wednesday 21 May 2025 from 18:00 to 20:00 at the Luxembourg City Museum. Free workshop, provided by the Hörgeschädigten Beratung SmH. Reservations required by email: visites@2musees.vdl.lu.

Roll & Run: 
The 7th edition of Roll & Run will take place on Saturday 31 May  from 17:00 to 21:00 on the Glacis Car Park in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg. The inclusive race is organised as part of the ING Night Marathon Luxembourg organised by Step by Step, in collaboration with the VdL, the Back to Sport association and various associations working with special needs in the Grand Duchy.

UNESCO Walk:
A UNESCO guided tour, organised by the LCTO (French National Centre for Cultural Heritage), to introduce participants to the impressive remains of the city's fortifications and old quarters, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994, will take place on Wednesday 4 June 2025 from 18:00 to 20:00. Reservations are required before Friday 30 May 2025 via email: integratioun@vdl.lu or tel 479-64150. Translation into German, French, English, or German Sign Language is available upon request.

Luxembourg, Old Quarters and Fortifications Tour:
On Thursday 5 June, historian and former UNESCO site manager Robert L. Philippart will introduce participants to the authenticity and integrity of the "Luxembourg, Old Quarters and Fortifications" site, from 16:00 to 17:30. The tour is free of charge but reservations are necessary before Friday 30 May via email: integratioun@vdl.lu or tel 479-64150, as well as for any translation requests (German, French, English or German Sign Language).
