The official inauguration of the Europa Experience Luxembourg, a free interactive space dedicated to Europe in Luxembourg City, took place on Thursday 30 January 2025 at the European Parliament in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.
Present at the inauguration were the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, the Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg, Prince Guillaume, Luxembourg Prime Minister, Luc Frieden, and the President of Luxembourg’s Chamber of Deputies (parliament), Claude Wiseler.
The permanent interactive exhibition is supported by the European institutions and described as offering “a captivating insight into the functioning of the European Union”. 30,000 visitors, of 120 different nationalities, have visited since the original opening in May 2024.
Europa Experience invites the public to explore the roles of the different European institutions and to discover, through the testimonies of other citizens, how European policies shape the daily lives of millions of people. It includes an immersive 360° cinema experience, as well as a two-hour-long role-playing game where groups of sixteen or more can enact the part of a Member of the European Parliament (MEP). Reservations for the game are required.
Roberta Metsola said: “There is no better place to discover Europe than at the Europa Experience in Luxembourg, a founding country of our Union, home to our European institutions and the birthplace of the Schengen area. I hope that the Europa Experience Luxembourg will strengthen the link between European politics and citizens. It is a space for meeting, exchanging ideas, organising events, debating and, ultimately, participating in Europe.”
Entry to the exhibition is free. A valid identity document is required. Groups of ten or more must register in advance at: https://luxembourg.booking.europarl.europa.eu
