The Confucius Institute at the University of Luxembourg celebrated the Chinese New Year and rang in the Year of the Snake at an event held in Luxembourg-Ville on Saturday 25 January 2025.

Organised in collaboration with the Union Commerciale de la Ville de Luxembourg (UCVL) and the Galeries Lafayette Luxembourg, the celebrations featured stands demonstrating traditional Chinese arts and pastimes in Place d'Armes. Chinese food was also available.

The highlight again this year was the traditional dragon parade. For this, the Confucius Institute once again joined forces with the Paris-based Association Française de Danse du Dragon et Lion Chinois (AFDDLC), with its team of Chinese martial arts specialists from across Europe (including Luxembourg).

Also on the agenda were speeches by the Chinese Ambassador to Luxembourg, Hua Ning, the Chief Alderman of the City of Luxembourg (VdL), Maurice Bauer, and a representative of the Confucius Institute.
