On Thursday 16 January 2025, 1COM Group held the official opening of its new indoor leisure centre in Luxembourg-Howald (105 Rue des Bruyères) called Strike.
The state-of-the-art entertainment complex is spread over 2,300 m2 on two floors and includes a bowling alley, a 40-seat restaurant and a DJ booth, with online reservations already operational.
It was back in March 2024 when Chronicle.lu reported on 1COM's plans for the venue which subsequently opened in late November last year, a soft opening without fanfare. Since then, one of the last components has almost been completed - the kitchens, which are on plan to become operational by the end of January - with the facility currently sharing the kitchens with its group neighbour, YoYo, the indoor entertainment centre for children.
Around 200 invitees attended the official opening at which Steve Darné thanked all involved in getting the new leisure centre off the ground.
Speaking with Chronicle.lu, Steve Darné, General Manager at 1COM Group, stated: "It is not many times in a career that I have the opportunity to open a venue like Strike. I am very proud to have this opportunity since it is a natural growth of the 1COM Group and a product that is complementary to all our other establishments. It has been a great challenge in these difficult times post Covid and economic crisis to be able to make this happen."
He added: "Strike is to be a venue for the whole family, and also a venue where people can come and have a bite to eat or a good drink while watching sports on our TVs. We have been able to create Strike to accommodate our customers whether it be corporate or families. We have free parking in front of the door and we are located so that it is very easily accessible. We have made it possible to enable people to book all our activities be darts, shuffleboard, pool tables and bowling online. A lot of heart and sweat has been put into creating Strike".
