A new edition of "Game On" is set to take place at the Rotondes in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October 2024.

For an entire (almost) completely free weekend, visitors of all ages will be able to try out new games, unearth old gems and take part in tournaments and workshops.

Under the dome of the Grande Salle, visitors will find the heart of the event: a range of board games, video games and a virtual reality (VR) zone, all from Luxembourg and the Greater Region. In addition, the public will be able to collaborate on the creation of a giant puzzle, participate in role-playing games, try their hand at chess or paint figurines. Médecins sans Frontières (MSF) will also offer an escape game focused on the fight against the Ebola virus disease.

Moreover, there will be a focus on photography in board games and the return of historical video games selected by the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH). The C²DH will also partner with the BTS Game Programming & Game Design of the Lycée des Arts et Métiers to offer a board game creation workshop (for ages fourteen and up), imagining an alternative history of Luxembourg.

In the Galerie, the public will be able to admire the drawings of the illustrator and designer Valériane Holley, who is originally from Grenoble, France. Potential buyers can also browse games at the second-hand market, and players of all ages can test various board games.

The atmosphere will become more competitive on Saturday evening, from 19:30 to midnight, with the Pub Quiz (organised by Social Gaming Luxembourg) and various tournaments organised by Le Réservoir, Mana Temple and Meeple Monastery, during which fans of Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic and Pokémon, among others, will compete.

Game On will open its doors from 14:00 to midnight on Saturday and from 11:00 to 18:00 on Sunday. Admission and most activities are free, but prior registration is required for the pub quiz (for a fee), tournaments (for a fee) and the board game design workshop (free).

That same weekend at the Rotondes, as part of Game On, the Trickster-p company will present "Eutopia", a game theatre show that combines performance, installation and board game. The English session is already sold out but a few places are still available for the German sessions on Saturday at 16:00 and 19:00, as well as on Sunday at 11:00 and 15:00.

Game On is organised by Game On asbl, Spillfabrik, Social Gaming Luxembourg, the Centre d'Animation Pédagogique et de Loisirs (CAPEL) of the Childcare Department of the City of Luxembourg and the Rotondes, in collaboration with IFEN and the National Youth Service (SNJ).
