The Musée national d'histoire et d'art Luxembourg (MNHA) has announced that it is organising two-hour guided tours of the Vauban fortifications in Luxembourg city in the first three months of 2022.

Entitled "Visites hors les murs - À l'assaut du Kirchberg" (Visits outside the walls - Storming Kirchberg), those participating will discover two centuries of fortifications.

An impressive system of fortifications, almost entirely disappeared since the Treaty of London of 1867, defended Kirchberg and protected the fortress city. The first military buildings on the heights of Kirchberg date back to the time of Louis XIV. The engineer Vauban, who directed the work of the siege in 1684, was commissioned to develop a project for the strengthening of the fortress.

The guided tours are being hel in LU / DE / FR / EN, with a start-time of 14:30 (starting point: Funicular, Kirchberg plateau) on the following days:

January: Saturday 15th, Sunday 23rd, Saturday 29th

February: Sunday 6th, Saturday 12th, Sunday 20th, Saturday 26th
