The Upper Sûre Nature Park and the Éislek (Oesling) Regional Tourist Office have provided further details of the online reservation system and hygiene measures in place at the Upper Sûre Lake this bathing season.

Visitors to the lake's beaches must make a reservation in advance, free of charge, at www.visit-eislek.lu or on the Éislek mobile application. A maximum of five places can be reserved per person. Reservations are required for any day of the week. People who have made a reservation but can longer make it to the beach must cancel their reservation via email: info@visit-eislek.lu.

Activities where visitors do not sit on the beach (e.g. fishing or kayaking) are excluded from reservations.

The hygiene measures in force also apply during a visit to the lake's beaches. Further information is available at www.covid-19.lu.

Traffic

Those wishing to get to the reservoir in a sustainable way and save themselves the trouble of finding a parking space have the choice of different buses and the lake shuttle (Stauséi-Navette), which runs every hour during the bathing season. The lake is easily accessible by bus line 535 (Ettelbruck - Insenborn - Ettelbruck), which runs on weekdays and Sundays every hour from 07:00 to 20:00. More information is available at www.mobiliteit.lu.

In addition to the various bus lines, the free “Am Kéilert” car park in Insenborn is accesible during this season. The car park is located directly on the N27 between Insenborn and Arsdorf and is signposted; it is a 15-minute walk to the lake. The town of Esch-sur-Sûre also offers a shuttle bus on weekends and on busy public holidays. It takes visitors every 20 minutes from the "Am Kéilert" car park to the beaches of Lultzhausen and Insenborn.

Rules and behaviour

The reservoir is the heart of the Upper Sûre Nature Park, with a maximum capacity of 60 million m3 of water, which supplies three-quarters of the Luxembourg population with drinking water. It is thus particularly important to keep the reservoir clean and to protect it from any deterioration in water quality. Consequently, certain rules must be strictly observed during a visit: no littering; barbecues are only permitted in designated areas; dogs are prohibited on all beaches around the Upper Sûre Lake; wild camping (spending the night in nature) is prohibited throughout Luxembourg, including in the Upper Sûre Nature Park.

These rules, developed by the Upper Sûre Nature Park in recent years, aim to make illegal and environmentally destructive behaviour unattractive and to promote behaviour that respects water resources, the environment and other human beings.

Through the financial support of Luxembourg's Ministry of Energy and Spatial Planning, a ranger will also be present on the beaches during the summer months this year in order to inform and educate visitors and ensure compliance with the regulations.
